Re: GTX, GTi, GT, GTII, Scala, ......
Just a quick addition to Sean's little list of Sciroccos he's
included most of the Sciroccos that I know of, apart from some minor
little deviations. First of all the first (series II) CLs only had
the 1500 motor (1981-1983). This is where that little nugget came
from, and secondly the early (81-83) GLs had a 85bhp 1600 carb
engine which was much better (IMHO) than the later 1600 as fitted to
the GTs. In late 1983 the CLs were replaced by the GTs, which was also
when they got the lower spec 1600 engine, the GLs were replaced
by the GTLs (now with 1800 carb engine) and the GTis were replaced
with the GTXs, which came with the same body kit as the Storm, but
not colour-coded.
For UK peoples the early models are easy to tell apart by just
looking at the headlights. CLs just had the single oblong one, GLs
had the later style oblong/square spot version, GTis had the
twin-square type.
Right that's enough drivel for the moment.
P.S. Scirocco Storm, the Ultimate GTi!
