G60 conversions

Well guys, first some history.  I was reading EC tech letters and someone
asked about a G60 conversion to a Scirocco.  They mentioned an article
they'd done on the conversion in September 95.  I spent a good 2 hours
digging through boxes trying to find that damned mag.  No luck.  Now, after
having moved again, I opened a box, and right on top of it is the mag!
hallelujah!  They make the transfer seem fairly simple, but don't mention
prices.

So trying to price this out, I call RPI to find out how much a used G60
motor costs.  He asks me what I'm putting it in, and I mentioned the article
and asked him about the conversion.  They've done about 6 or 7 of them
apparently.  Why can't I live in BC?

Anyways, the price of the conversion is about $3500 US for all the parts.
They'll do it for a few hundred more and it'll take about a week.  Hmm, may
be a good excuse to visit my sister, she just moved out there!

Any opinions out there?  I know last time I asked about engine upgrades
y'all suggested going to a 2.0.  How 'bout this?  Especially since you can
get that stage III upgrade to about 217hp.
