I can chirp my tires in 2nd or 3rd gear without too much trouble, my first
Scirocco was an 82 with a stock 1.7L, when I put a new clutch set in after
driving the car for about 3 months, I was really suprised, it would chirp
them when shifting to 2nd if I wasn't careful, so if I coudn't now I would
check the clutch for slipping. Actually I did have a leaking rear main
seal once that kept me from spinning (the wheels) in any gear.
