i still REALLY think that it is your tranny mount.  it has happened to me
and my friend's scirocco several times under hard driving.

w/ the mount broken, the tranny sags and your linkage is no longer at  the
correct angle to shift gears.  

look at it!  btw, it's the REAR tranny mount.  

if its broken, go for poly
