Best speaker config in a Scirocco?
I hope this subject hasn't already been beaten to death.
I know many of you out there probably already have killer stereo systems
installed in your cars, so I hope to gain some info about what *specifically*
works in a 'rocco and what doesn't
I've already got a head unit (Pioneer DEH-415) and some plate speakers
(Clarion 4" mid and 1" tweeter) to replace the stock door panel speakers
(and boy was it fun grinding those plates until they fit!). I'm looking at
designing and hopefully purchasing a full-on system with subs,
amp/crossover, and maybe more mids.
I'd really like to be able to do this without cutting up the car much, if at
all. So does anyone use fully enclosed cabinets in the back (like a
home-made thing, Bazooka tube, etc) as opposed to attaching them to
the rear deck? If so, would it still sound ok to have the shelf in place?
I'm trying to make this look as low-profile as possible, both for the sake
of aesthetics and security (I park every day in downtown Seattle).
Also, what do you do for mid-ranges, without cutting up the door panels?
I'm thinking of eventually building some small cabinets for some 6x9s,
but I'm not sure where I'd put them.
Thanks for any and all info - let's hear some stories about those killer
systems!!!
