The Hot-Dry-Desert-Wind isn't even spelled Scirocco, it's Sirocco. 
Pronounciation is similar though.

Speaking of name-mangling, my favorite one for the Scirocco, brought to you
by an ex-girlfriend of mine: Scirollo.  :-)
