  A good place to find out about shows is to check out the coming events
section in Hot VW's or VW Trends.  You also can find out about a lot of
local shows by checking with local performance shops and checking with
the local VW clubs.  Not sure if it is much different by you, but in Cal.
the only people winning any money at the show are the best of show cars,
which usually win around $500 or so, and are usually the pan off full
restoration/customization bugs and busses.
