Hey, I'm new!!!
Hello folks!
I'm new to this list, having just purchased a 1982 Scirocco GL here in
the UK as a daily driver. I've just garaged my Triumph TR7v8! That'll get
you talking!!
I've got a problem perhaps someone can shed some light on: The car runs
fine for the first 20 minutes then develops a misfire. The carb setup is
fine, as is proved by good cold starting and running after warm up. The
temp needle eases its way to about 3/4 and then the misfire starts. There
is pressurisation of the coolant. I suspect the cylinder head gasket but
my practical experience of this is slight. The engine oil is not
emulsified, hence contains no water and the coolant is clean (apart from
rust colour!). Water into the combustion chamber inhibiting the spark?
Would water vapour actually do this or would the overall temperature and
speed of combustion mask this effect?
I've yet to check compressions - what do I look for to diagnose a gasket
problem?
Thanks in advance for your help!!
