I've got an 81 - the previous owner managed to trash the original 1.7l and
found a 1.6l in a junk yard to replace it with. The engine runs well for
the most part, but is *extremely* anemic. I feel somewhat silly driving
around in a lowered Scirocco (silver with 84 GTI 14" rims) and not being
able to keep up with bloody Citations...
Now, as I understand it, a JH engine should be a pretty straight bolt-in
job... Should I try and find one of these (or a reasonable facsimile), or
should I really blow my lunch money on a high-compression 2.0l (with all
the time and trouble that would entail; ignition, wiring etc.)?
